Editorial scope
StartupBook.org publishes general educational content for founders and operators: how to validate ideas, how fundraising tends to work, how to choose pricing, common metrics, and similar topics. The audience we write for is broad and the situations we describe are common patterns rather than specific cases.
Because of that, nothing on this site should be treated as professional advice for your specific company.
Not legal, financial, tax, or professional advice
The guides on this site touch areas — incorporation, equity, contracts, fundraising, pricing — where the right answer depends on your jurisdiction, your stage, your investors, and the details of your situation. We do our best to describe how things generally work and to point at credible sources, but:
- Information here is not legal advice and does not create an attorney–client relationship.
- Information here is not financial, investment, or tax advice.
- Information here is not a substitute for professional accounting, employment, or compliance advice.
Before making decisions with material consequences — incorporating in a particular state, signing investment documents, hiring or firing, setting up payroll, designing a token or financial product — talk to a qualified professional licensed to practice in your jurisdiction.
Accuracy and currency
We update guides periodically, but the startup world moves quickly. Tools change pricing, regulators change rules, and "best practice" today is sometimes "old advice" in twelve months. The "Last reviewed" date on each page tells you when we last looked at it. If you spot something out-of-date, email [email protected].
External links
We link out to tools, communities, and articles run by third parties. We don't control those resources and don't guarantee their accuracy, ongoing availability, or any specific outcome from using them.
Affiliate disclosure
The Books page contains affiliate links to Amazon. If you click one of those links and buy a book, StartupBook.org may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. The decision to recommend a book is editorial — driven by whether the book is widely useful to founders — and is not influenced by commission rates. If a book stops being recommended, the affiliate link goes with it.
Advertising
The site may display ads served by Google AdSense and its partners. Ads are not editorial endorsements. We do not vet the businesses, products, or claims appearing in ad slots, and we do not control ad targeting beyond Google's standard policies. If an ad on this site looks misleading or inappropriate, please email [email protected] with a screenshot and we will report it.
Outcomes are not guaranteed
Reading a guide on this site won't make a startup succeed. Skipping one won't make it fail. Most outcomes in early-stage companies depend on factors that no article can predict — markets, timing, team, luck. Use what you read here as one input among many.
